Drive to Lewis - Day 12 - Boise, ID

Boise, ID was our next to last stop on our crazy trip across the United States!  We really enjoyed our time in Boise.  It was like the perfect sized "little city."  The kids had a blast at the zoo and we all soaked in the sun!

Gotta start the day off with some excellent coffee!

The Capital Building

Riding the carousel at the Boise Zoo

The kiddos loved getting to see penguins (both the real ones & then these models!)

This zoo was a perfect size for us.  The kiddos could see EVERY animal and it was not a huge zoo so we could all (even Noah!) walk through and enjoy all the different exhibits!

Boise Fry Company...  need I say more?!?!

Russet potatoes fried in duck fat and then sprinkled with white truffle salt - DELICIOUS!!!

John's amazing grass fed bison cheese burger with his choices of the MANY different kinds of fry sauces they make in the background.  I think my favorite was still the traditional mix of mayo and ketchup fry sauce.  YUMMO!

Burley, ID - The town where John's mom grew up!

Apparently Micah didn't know what to do in the rain...  He's been since acclimated to the Pacific Northwest!  HA!

Tablerock Brewery in Boise, ID - FABULOUS food & great gluten-free beer!

All this traveling wore out this little guy!

Drive to Lewis - Day 10 - Salt Lake City, UT

Sorry we're behind on posting pictures!  Now that we're a little more settled we will work on getting caught up on posting pictures from the road trip as well as our new home!

Enjoying the gardens of Temple Square

Cafe Rio = Muy Delicioso!!!

The gardens in Temple Square were absolutely amazing!!!

The kiddos got a kick out of these "Jelly Fish" fountains that were at a new outdoor mall in Salt Lake

Drive to Lewis - Day 9 - Colorado to Salt Lake City, UT

Day 9 was another LONG driving day.  We drove a total of 455 miles, most of which was through Wyoming.  We expected Wyoming to be empty and rugged but it was surprisingly flat, therefore making it feel like a REALLY LONG drive!!!  Needless to say, we were VERY happy to pull into Utah, see some Utah mountains, and then drive down into the valley of Salt Lake!

When we stayed in Ft. Collins we were only about 30 miles from the Wyoming border so we moved out of Colorado pretty quick and then seemed to drive through Wyoming FOREVER!!!

We couldn't believe the elevation at which we were driving!!!

Playing at a rest stop in WY

SNOW!!!

The first and ONLY snow we've seen ALL year!!!

The town we stopped in for lunch.  Pretty much the ONLY thing or town for miles and miles around!!!

OK so Thai food isn't exactly "local fare" but it was our best option in Rawlins, WY!!!

Wyoming was BEAUTIFUL.  Empty, but beautiful!!!

This was early into Wyoming.  It quickly got flatter and flatter.  At one point we could easily see 10+ miles away!!!

A certain Uncle told us that when he was a kiddo growing up in nearby Utah, his family would drive over to Wyoming to get "illegal" fireworks to shoot off at home!

Wyoming was empty, BIG, LONG, and surprisingly flat!  We were VERY happy to see the Utah sign!!!

The red rocks of Utah

Drive to Lewis - Day 8 - Easter in Ft. Collins, CO

We spent Easter in Ft. Collins, CO and the Easter bunny managed to find us and pay us a visit at our hotel!  :)

Chocolate bunnies and "appropriately" themed eggs for each kiddo.  :)

Sports eggs for Noah

Cars eggs for Micah

Cupcake eggs for Lydia

Chocolate for BREAKFAST!!!

Coffee snacks before church

When did he become such a big man?!?!

Happy Easter!

Waiting for Easter brunch

There was a balloon animal artist(?) at "Snooze" - the restaurant we went to for brunch.  Lydia wanted an elephant.

MJ of course got a puppy.

Noah very fittingly got a monkey.

Red velvet pancakes with cream cheese icing!!!

John's breakfast - "Breakfast Pot Pie"

Bree's breakfast - "Bella Bella Benny" - Italian inspired eggs benedict with gluten free toast, prosciutto, taleggio cheese, arugula, and balsamic reduction glaze...  AMAZING!!!
